Hello! Thank you for your interest in joining the Wellspring team as a full-time School Therapist with the Behavioral Health program. As a statewide nonprofit serving families and children in need of support, we take a whole-person approach to our organization and delivery of our services — because we believe we must find the strengths in people and build on these for lasting change to occur.

When you join our team as a School Therapist within the behavioral health program, you'll be part of a team of therapists and professionals committed to serving individuals and families. In this position you will be supporting students in eight separate Lutheran K - 8 schools in the Saginaw - Bay area as they address their mental health and wellness. 
In this position, you'll bring a master's degree in social work or counseling; and hold a full license as a LMSW or LPC, through the State of Michigan's licensing and regulatory affairs. You will have experience working with and delivering clinical services to children and individuals. In addition, you will hold credentials that allow access to multiple funding and referral streams. You will also be reliable, have a responsible attitude, a compassionate approach and a commitment to quality in everything you do. 

As a School Therapist, you will: 
 
  • Provide behavioral health counseling that is culturally relevant, utilizing theoretical models effective in a school setting. Promote student well-being.
  • Provide telephone consultation, referral and crisis intervention services following school policy and practice.
  • Effectively consult with school personnel re: curriculum for mental health/social emotional development. This may include work with outside agencies to provide support for students and families.
  • Assisting teachers and administrators with behavioral and attitude issues by communicating with students to find the causes of their distress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents in the partnership process for student success.
  • Complete assessments and create treatment plans for clients.
  • Provide advocacy services for clients and link people with area resources.
  • Prepare reports and other documentation within appropriate time frames.
  • Maintain case files and documentation of client contact/activities.
  • Participate in development of policies and procedures for delivering quality services.
